The Compact Principles

Here you can download the original document produced after the 2001 meeting to launch the Wales Environmental Compact. In it you will find the 5 steps which enable the two sectors to work together under the Compact principles which are ; • To make effective use of the Compact and its Implementation Plan within their own organisation. • Partnership between the voluntary and statutory sectors is based on equality of ownership, decision-making and recognition of each party’s distinctive contribution. • Respect and appreciate those particular factors that constrain the operational freedom of each organisation. • When creating policy and developing programmes, it is second nature to involve other appropriate organisations. • Any organisation has the right to express its own opinion and the responsibility to listen to others when they express theirs. • Recognise the mutual benefits to be gained from investing in other organisations. • Sharing information and resources is a matter of routine good practice. • Proactively engage with socially excluded and disadvantaged groups to unlock their contribution to the environment improving the quality of life for all.
